What is Invisalign®?
Invisalign® is a modern orthodontic treatment system that straightens your teeth with a series of custom-manufactured clear aligners. It’s more comfortable and less noticeable than traditional metal braces because the aligners fit snugly over your teeth.
Because the clear aligners are removable, you can continue to eat your favorite snacks, including seeds, nuts, and fruit slices. What’s more, Invisalign typically provides results within 6-12* months, making it faster than other orthodontic treatments.
What types of issues can Invisalign correct?
At Schoolhouse Orthodontics, LTD, Dr. Bolden uses Invisalign clear aligners to correct mild or moderate orthodontic issues, including:
- Teeth with gaps between them
- Crowded or overlapping teeth
- Crossbite
- Overbite
- Underbite
- Misaligned jaw
You might also benefit from treatment with Invisalign clear aligners if you have crooked teeth.
What does treatment with Invisalign clear aligners involve?
Before prescribing Invisalign clear aligners, Dr. Bolden conducts an oral exam, reviews your dental health history, and takes digital X-rays. She uses the X-rays to assess the position of your teeth and jaw and to determine the type of orthodontic care that will most benefit you.
Next, Dr. Bolden takes digital impressions with an intraoral scanner. She uploads the impressions to a computer program and develops a treatment blueprint that maps the step-by-step movements of your teeth and jaw.
After walking you through the plan and explaining the treatment process, she sends your impressions to a dental laboratory. The techs at the laboratory use your impressions to design and manufacture a set of custom clear aligners that fit perfectly.
A week or two later, you return to Schoolhouse Orthodontics, LTD. Dr. Bolden has you try the aligners on and makes adjustments as necessary. During treatment, you visit the office every one to two weeks and change into a new pair of aligners.
achieve your desired results, wear the aligners for 20-22 hours each day, only removing them to brush and floss or eat.
How long does treatment with Invisalign take?
The length of time Invisalign treatment takes depends on the issues treated and your commitment to Dr. Bolden’s care plan. Most people complete the regimen within 6-12* months but it may take longer. When your teeth and jaw are properly aligned, you transition to a retainer to prevent them from moving.
